DESCRIPTION:The Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce & GALLA presents its monthly networking program tailored for attorneys\, judges and legal professionals sponsored by Kaufman Rossin.  A panel of distinguished guests will discuss the topic of "Affordable Housing & The LGBT Community". \n\n\n\nThe focus of the presentation will be the lack of affordable housing for the aging LGBT population\, which is a growing concern that deserves more attention locally and across the United States.  The discussion will include what the legal community\, non-profits\, and other organizations need to consider\, particularly\, the legal\, cultural and institutional challenges that keep older LGBT persons from aging with dignity.   1 CLE (General and / or Bias Elimination) will be provided. Matas is Associate Dean for Administration and Counsel to the Dean\, and Acting Director of the Real Property Development LLM at the University of Miami School of Law. She is also national chair of the LGBT Division of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA)\, and previously served as its General Counsel.\n\n \n\nSandra Newson is Vice-President of Resident Services at Carrfour\, one of the leading developers and providers of affordable and supportive housing in  Florida\, and currently developing one of the first LGBT Affordable Housing projects in South Florida. \n\n\n\nSharhzad Emami\, Director of the Affordable Housing & Community Development practice group at Legal Services of Greater Miami.\n\n \n\n\nThe Gay and Lesbian Lawyers Association of South Florida (GALLA) is a voluntary professional association for lawyers\, law students\, paralegals and other members of the legal profession providing a visible community presence within the South Florida legal community.
