DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, June 15th through Saturday\, June 18th in Miami Beach! \n\nNow in its seventh edition\, FUNDarte's Out in the Tropics is a unique\, daring\, and artistically outstanding performance series featuring work by some of today's most innovative and relevant GLBTQ artists\, Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely\, La Saraghina de Stalker Theater Company\, Juan Carlos Lerida\, Fernando LR Parra and Belen Maya. \n\nMiami\, FL.  April1st\, 2016.  FUNDarte presents Out In The Tropics 2016\, a week-long event featuring artists who address gender\, sexuality and issues of interest to the art community and their allies. Now in its seventh year\, the series runs from June 15   18\, 2016 in Miami Beach and features public performances\, panel\, workshops\, master classes and artist-talks serving various sectors of the community. Out in the Tropics will present five distinct national and international artists including a concert by Toshi Reagon and her band BIGLovely based in New York\, also at The Gleason Room at the Fillmore Miami Beach (1700 Washington Avenue\, Miami Beach)\; La Saraghina de Stalker\, a theater company from Madrid\, Spain performing at The Gleason Room at the Fillmore Miami Beach (1700 Washington Avenue\, Miami Beach)\; Queer Flamenco with artist/scholar Fernando LR Parra\, also from Madrid\, Spain at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2000 Convention Center Drive\, Miami Beach) and choreographer and dancer Juan Carlos Lerida from Seville\, Spain\, presented as a double bill with legendary boundary-breaking artist Belen Maya at The Gleason Room at the Fillmore Miami Beach (1700 Washington Avenue\, Miami Beach).\n\nThis year's line-up will also include "Out of the Container"\, an LGBTIQ focused series of 15-minute plays with absolute vision and approach\, which will run from June 9th to July 10th\, 2016 at CCE Miami's MicroTheater. MicroTheater is a theatrical convention consisting of works of less than 15 minutes in length for a maximum of 15 spectators presented in a 20-foot container. Each work is presented six times each night in continuous sessions.  \n\nOut in the Tropics also brings exciting free events including a number of educational activities that will allow audiences more insight into the creative process of the artists presented. The series includes community workshops\, lectures and other educational activities at distinct venues throughout the festival.
